I had two handspun skeins of yarn that I wanted to dye for a crocheting project.
Since I have a lot of Wilton cake decorating colorings,
I decided to give them a try.
After soaking the yarn in some vinegar,
I added some blue food coloring to the dye pot and added my yarn.
The yarn turned out a very pretty shade of blue,
but a lot lighter than the food coloring label.
So, when I got ready to do the pink,
I added a considerably larger amount of food coloring.
And it turned out to be exactly the color on the food coloring label.
It is a very vivid pink!
Pretty, but not really what I was hoping for.
Back into the dye pot it goes…
I am now soaking it in a homemade walnut dye to hopefully tone it down a bit.
