Painting Styrofoam Eggs

By Amy

Here's how I painted dollar store eggs to create a primitive look

My Bonnie Bunny punch needle kit comes with a small painted egg for the bunny to carry in his basket. To make the eggs, I start with glittery styrofoam eggs from the dollar store and paint them to create primitive, speckled eggs.

Bowl fillers for September

By Amy

Fall Bowl

I realized this morning that I still had my treenware bowl filled with all kinds of summer punch needle bowl fillers. And here it is already the 11th of September! I went through my bowl fillers to find ones that are fall looking but not spooky. (I will save those to add in October.) I […]

Rusty Hand Saws

By Amy

Finished Saw

My husband was cleaning out the garage this week when he came across a box of old hand saws. He figured he must have gotten them at an auction, but he couldn’t remember what he was saving them for. Since Pinterest is my go-to place for inspiration, I did a quick search to see what […]

Repainting a Wooden Sugar Bucket – Firkin

By Amy

Sugar Bucket - Painted

I recently snagged this wooden sugar bucket at a garage sale. I like the look of the old sugar buckets, but they have gotten quite expensive at the shops around here. So, I set out to make this one look like an old sugar bucket. First, I sanded off the old paint. I want to […]

4H Projects from the Fair

4H Woodworking Project

Last week, we had our local county fair. Since my kids are in 4-H, they made some projects to take. This is my son’s woodworking project. He has done some woodworking with his grandfather before, but this is the first project that was his. He made raised panels for the front and a hinged lid […]

Garage Sale Finds

By Amy

Goblets

Our local community had a city-wide garage sale last weekend. We made the short trek into town three different times to try to find some bargains. When I was young, my grandmother started me collecting this Manhattan glassware. I have a variety of plates and bowls in the pattern but only four goblets. At the […]

Braided Rug Progress

By Amy

Braided Rug

I was almost finished with my braided rug. It looked great on my table. Then, I put it on the floor to see how it looked… and it turned into a bowl. After watching several braided rug lacing videos, I believe I wasn’t skipping around the curves properly. So, I took most of it apart […]

Braided Rug

By Amy

Braids

Our labradoodle likes to lay on the floor between our kitchen and living room. After we installed our hardwood floors, I placed a rug in this spot for her, but it just isn’t quite big enough for her. When I was cleaning out our closet recently, I found a flat flannel sheet which no longer […]

About Me

Our small farm is nestled amongst the Amish. We have a few cows, some sheep, a labradoodle, one calico cat, and lots of wide open spaces for our children to roam. I enjoy making primitive needle punch, wool creations, and learning how to spin the wool from our sheep. Read more...
