New Washtub Sink in the Laundry Room

By Amy

Last summer, my husband came home

from an auction with a washtub

just the perfect size to make into a sink for our laundry room.

My dad, the woodworker, and I drew up some plans

for a cabinet for it to sit upon.

We just got it finished and installed!

I really like the way it turned out.

I think it has the look of an old wash stand.

Unfortunately, our old sink had a backsplash

that was attached to the wall REALLY well.

So, as you can see, we (my husband) also had to do a little drywall work.

I was going to paint it and make it beautiful before showing it to you,

but the paint lid had rusted and the paint is completely dried.

So, I took the can to the paint store

and the lid was too rusted to even read the old paint label.

The paint store clerk wanted to color match it.

I hesitated because I haven’t ever tried color matching.

I was hoping to just touch up that area

and not have to paint the whole wall.

And I wasn’t sure whether or not the color matching is that accurate.

Then I remembered that the previous owners of our house

had left a printed out spreadsheet of paint colors they used in each room.

I came home and found it!!

The spreadsheet even listed the color formula used to mix it.

Next time I go to town I am going to go back armed with this information.

I am very hopeful that it will match.

Wish me luck!!

Blessings~
Amy
