Since we have been updating our vintage camper,
it needed some new rugs to go with the new decor.
I have searched in stores and online looking for just the right thing
but haven’t been able to find what I want.
I want the rugs to have a splash of the aqua color
I have been using, but not any green.
(Why do they all have green?)
I also want them to be washable because…camping!
Saturday, I went to an auction that had a loom
thinking I could make my own rugs.
Unfortunately, the loom went higher than I wanted to pay.
So, I started looking online for other ways to make a rug.
I found DIY on the House’s video showing
I showed the video to my husband and he said he could make that for me!
He ordered the supplies we needed from Home Depot.
(Did you know they will bring the stuff right out to your car if you order online and choose pickup?)
He built it for me right away!
Weaving a Rug:
Yesterday, I went to the local Amish fabric store
and got some fabric for the rug.
Then I came home and washed and dried all of the fabric
and started cutting strips.
I wanted to wash and dry it to pre-shrink the fabric before weaving.
I don’t have enough strips cut yet, but I couldn’t wait to start weaving!
I am going to be using mainly the brown and cream,
but I will throw in a splash of a few different aqua fabrics
here and there to add some color and tie everything together.
The brown fabric is about the color of our camper couch.
I am using an aqua fabric leftover from the camper bathroom curtain,
one I used for a decorator kitchen towel,
and a darker aqua fabric I got at the Amish store
that matches our vintage water cooler.
I will show you again when I have one finished!
