I am more than ready for some beautiful spring weather, so I decided to try making some spring flowers from fabric. In this post, I will make a wool daffodil flower. I plan on using these daffodil flowers as bowl fillers with my other spring decor.

Making a Wool Daffodil:
The petal shape is pretty easy to draw – just make a long skinny triangle with the two long edges rounded off at the top. You will also need a circle large enough to sew all of the petals onto. My circle was 2″ in diameter.
When I am making up patterns like this, I usually make it from small scraps of felt first so I don’t waste my good fabric.

I used two different shades of yellow felted wool to make the daffodil. Cut 6 petals and two circles from the lighter shade of yellow and a long rectangle of the darker yellow wool. My rectangle was 1-1/2″ x 6″.
Make a tuck in the middle of each petal and stitch the petals around the outside of one of the circles.

Overlap the short edges of the rectangle 1/4″ and sew the short edges together to make a tube.

Gather one edge of the wool tube you just made and slightly gather the other edge of the tube.
Sew the completely gathered side of the tube to the middle of the daffodil.
On the back of the flower, sew the second wool circle over the first. This will allow you to cover up any stitching you have done and you can add a flower stem in between the middle of the two circles if desired.
