In order to make an antique style cross stitch sampler in a specific size, I combined a few different patterns to create a new design. After stitching it, I aged the sampler and then framed it for display.

My Cross Stitch Sampler:
The size constraint of my sampler was based solely on the size of the piece of linen that I had available to me. I planned on stitching a cross stitch sampler pattern that was a larger size, but I didn’t have a big enough piece of linen.
So, I decided to make do with what I had and modify / combine some patterns. I started out by stitching the top border and then started stitching letters to fit underneath. After I finished stitching the letters, I had just enough room to stitch a date. Underneath, I chose some flowers and birds from a few different patterns that all fit nicely together.
After it was all stitched, I aged the sampler and framed it.
