In this primitive craft tutorial, I am going to make some spooky fall ornaments for a fall tree. I chose to make a spooky black cat and a jack-o-lantern. These could also be made into bowl fillers or hung from a cabinet knob if you prefer.
These fall ornaments are made with scraps of felted wool I have leftover from other projects. If you don’t have felted wool, you can use craft felt to get the same results.

Making the Black Cat Ornament:
I drew out a cat face (circle with triangle ears on top). From felted wool, I cut one cat face front and a cat back with the same size circle without the ears.

From a rust colored felted wool, I cut a triangle shaped nose and circle eyes from gold wool. I cut them too large to begin with and kept cutting them down until they looked just right.
After they were the correct size, I glued the eyes and nose onto the cat face.

I then used 3 strands of black embroidery floss to make french knots on each of the black cat’s eyes and some antiqued cream embroidery floss to backstitch on a mouth.

Next, I put glue around the edge of the back side of the cat face except between the ears and glued on the backing. After the glue was dry, I inserted some stuffing and glued the top closed.
Finally, I added an embroidery floss hanger.

Now that I am finished, I realized the cat would look better with some whiskers!
Making the Jack-o-Lantern Ornament:
Using the same circle shape I used for the back of the cat, I cut two pumpkins from orange felted wool. From black felted wool, I cut shapes for the face and glued those onto one of the pumpkin circles.
Next, I placed glue on the back side of the pumpkin, around the sides and bottom and glued the two orange circles together. As with the cat, I then lightly stuffed the pumpkin.
Before gluing the top shut, I applied glue to one side of a small rectangle of brown plaid felted wool, rolled it into a stem, and then glued it into the top of the pumpkin. Finally, I added an embroidery floss hanger to the jack-o-lantern.
