In this craft tutorial, I am going to make some retro inspired Christmas ornaments out of miniature bottle brush Christmas trees. When you put five of the bottle brush trees together, they form a wonderful star, perfect for making ornaments!

Preparing the Trees:
For the first ornament, I will be using five Christmas trees that are all the same size. The trees I purchased are green, but I want them to be cream colored, so I will first bleach the trees.
After removing the base of the trees, I placed the trees in some bleach until the color faded. This only took a couple of minutes. Then I rinsed the trees in water and let them dry.
If you are going to want to bleach the trees, be careful when purchasing trees. Some of the newer trees are more of a wire than a bottle brush and they do not bleach.

Making the Ornaments:
With hot glue, I adhered the trees together into a star shape, attached a small vintage glass ornament to the middle, and miniature tinsel around the ball ornament. To finish the ornament, I glued a silver ribbon hanger onto the back.

For the next ornament, I chose to use three different sized bottle brush trees together. The top tree is a little fatter than the others. The next two (arms) are skinnier and shorter. The bottom two (legs) are about the same length as the top one but skinnier.
After bleaching the trees, I glued them together into a star shape.
I happen to have a collection of vintage Santa face stickers, so I decided to use one of these for this ornament. You could cut a Santa face from some scrapbook paper, a post card, or print one. If you decide to print one, you can always resize it first to the correct size.
Before I attached the Santa face to my ornament, I applied some super fine white glitter to his beard using ModPodge. To make the glitter look like it has worn off and this is an old ornament, I simply applied the ModPodge randomly on the beard instead of covering the entire beard.
I also dipped the tip of each Christmas tree into the ModPodge and sprinkled them with the same glitter.

After all of the glitter was dry, I attached the Santa face to the front of the ornament and a red satin ribbon for a hanger to the back of the ornament.
