Make the Flag Ditty Bag:
During the summer months, small flags on wood sticks are easy to find at the dollar type stores and relatively inexpensive. I used one for this project, but you could use two if you prefer and not need any fabric for the backing.
I removed the flag from the stick – it was just held on by a couple of staples. Next, I cut a piece of fabric the same size as the flag for the backing and coffee dyed both pieces.

To distress the flag just a bit more, I lightly rubbed some sandpaper over the flag.
To make the ditty bag, I layered the front and back, wrong sides together and used hot glue along the side and bottom edges to affix the pieces together.

I hot glued a jute handle onto the bag and antiqued the bag more with some antiquing wax.

To the handle, I added a strip of coffee dyed cheesecloth and an antique skeleton key.
I made a pick for the bag with one of the eagles from this hang tag printable collection by gluing (stick glue) it to a piece of craft paper and hot gluing a bamboo skewer onto the back.

I lightly stuffed the bottom of the bag with some pillow stuffing so it didn’t look flat and added a patriotic berry pick with the eagle pick.
