If you use the Ultra Punch needle for punching, you might be wondering about the different punch needle tip sizes.
What exactly is the difference in the diameter of the needle tips
between the four different needle sizes.
To compare, we got out my husband’s dial caliper again
to measure the diameter of each of the punch needle tips.
Punch Needle Tip Measurement Comparison:
The large needle tip, which is designed for punching six strands of embroidery floss,
measures 0.082 inches in diameter.
The medium needle tip, which is designed for punching three to six strands of embroidery floss,
measures 0.065 inches in diameter.
The small needle tip, which is designed for punching 2 to 3 strands of embroidery floss,
measures 0.058 inches in diameter.
The new fine needle tip, designed for punching 1 strand of embroidery floss
measures 0.057 inches in diameter and is slightly shorter than the other needles.
(The fine tip needle is not currently available.)
