I created this Ultra Punch Needle Depth Measurements chart
to help you when deciding upon which punching depth to use.
There are many different brands of punch needles out there
and just as many varying opinions about which one is the best.
What are you to do if your pattern says to set your Ultra Punch needle
to a depth setting of 3,
but you have a CTR needle?
My husband has this handy measuring tool,
called a dial caliper,
with which he measured each punching depth
on the Ultra Punch needle to one-thousandth of an inch.
He measured the entire exposed needle – from the end of the blue handle
all the way to the tip of the needle.
I then converted it to millimeters for you in the following chart.
Ultra Punch Needle Depth Measurements Guide
Ultra Punch | Inches | Millimeters |
---|---|---|
1 | 0.465 | 11.81 |
2 | 0.530 | 13.46 |
3 | 0.594 | 15.09 |
4 | 0.654 | 16.61 |
5 | 0.722 | 18.34 |
6 | 0.788 | 20.02 |
7 | 0.845 | 21.46 |
8 | 0.907 | 23.04 |
9 | 0.970 | 24.64 |
10 | 1.028 | 26.11 |
11 | 1.093 | 27.76 |
12 | 1.158 | 29.41 |
So, if for example,
your punch needle pattern says to set the
Ultra Punch needle to a depth setting of 3,
you can adjust the depth adjustors on your CTR needle
to a needle depth of 15 mm using a simple ruler,
measuring all the way to the tip of the needle.
I hope this helps you!
