Heart Rug Hooking Pattern:
The sample for this primitive hooked rug was hooked on monk’s cloth,
but it could also be easily hooked on linen or rug warp.
Dark navy wool was used for the outline of the square, key, 1804 date,
randomly in the heart, and part of the tongues.
The rest of wool noodles were whites, off whites, yellows and light blues.
A strip of the navy wool was used to finish the edges.
It was also tea dyed to give it an aged, primitive look.
It was hooked with #8 strips (one fourth inch wide).
The finished piece is about 9 1/2 inches square.
